rebecca lappa

Rebecca Lappa is a born story teller, who crafts songs with strong melodies and haunting lyrics. At the age of 13, she has already penned over 40 songs in a contemporary mix of pop and folk with a hint of jazz. They range from ballads to up-tempo tunes all sung in her expressive clear soprano.

Having completed two EP’s of original songs, Rebecca is presently recording a full length CD with Peter Stone of 100 Mile House. New songs continue to spring forth as this prolific songwriter is inspired by life events and the wealth of music around her. Rebecca has stories to tell and a voice to tell them.

Rebecca is busy building a fan base as she performs at festivals, venues and talent searches around her home town of Edmonton. Whether singing the anthem at a Canada Day celebration in front of the Mayor or singing for an appreciative crowd at a coffee shop, sharing her music with an audience is Rebecca’s true passion. She has performed at many festivals such as Heart of the City, SOS fest, Big Valley Jamboree and the Leduc Black Gold Rodeo, and sung at charity events including the St Valentines Day Hair Massacre and Kokopelli Sing-A-Thon. You will also find Rebecca at open mics and songwriter stages or performing as a member of U22 productions. Her music is available for purchase on KERFMUSIC.

Since the age of six, Rebecca has excelled at vocal competitions in the Edmonton area. She has been selected to perform as a finalist at the Northern Star Talent search at Capital EX for the last 6 years. At the Futures Fest competition in 2005 she won best junior musical theatre solo. Then in 2007 she won 1st place and she was 2nd place in 2009 and 2010 in the 9-12 division. Rebecca was a junior vocal scholarship winner at the Rotary Festival in 2007 and has also been a regular at the EFCL Talent show winning awards for Top Vocal Pop under 11 years in 2005 and 2006, the Showmanship Award in 2007 and 2008, and the Daphne Surrey Musical Theatre Award in 2008. Performing one of her original songs Rebecca won the St Albert Idol junior division in 2008 and was a guest performer at St. Albert Idol in 2009. She was the winner of the 2009 East Meets West Idol competition last summer. As one person said, "Rebecca has a voice and she's not afraid to use it".

    comments & reviews
Rebecca was a very confident and well prepared presenter at our Highlands Young Reader’s Conference. She was a very well spoken, open and honest communicator. She dazzled our students with her creative songwriting skills, amazing voice and how she sang from the heart. It was phenomenal for our students to see another student who is actively pursuing her dreams! Rebecca was a highlight for our conference and we would like to have her return again next year!
