rhea march

rheaThe seeds of my musical roots were first planted in Regina when I was just a youngster and would stay up late listening to my dad and his band (The Buckaroo's) rehearsing in the basement.  I began playing guitar and writing music at the age of 12 and many years later continues to fuel my musical passion by performing at various events but mostly by offering encouragement and support to as many emerging Alberta artists as possible.

In 2004 I developed and produced a community based “Young Singer/Songwriter” concert series that ran quarterly from Riverdale Community Hall.  The series introduced me to a sampling of the astounding young talent emerging in Edmonton.  As a result of my work with youth in this series, I was honored and humbled to be recognized for the 2005 Governor General's Award for "Outstanding Contributions to my Community."

The success of the series, coupled with an unshakable dedication to inspire young talent, gave birth to the notion of developing a radio program that could be embraced both by listeners and the young artists being featured.  CKUA Radio helped me realize that goal by supporting me in producing my first radio show in November of 2007 and in January of 2008, a second.

The trail of success that U22 has blazed has proven that audiences of all ages are eager to embrace and encourage young performing artists.  My goal is to continue build on this momentum by showcasing and inspiring U22 artists right across Canada and eventually throughout Europe.

Currently, I can be found each Sunday night, at hulbert's (www.hulberts.ca) hosting Edmonton's first and only “All Original Music” Open Mic.   The standing room only attendance of aspiring performers has provided the opportunity for 'live auditions' in a warm, nurturing setting.  Additionally, hulbert's podcasts and simulcasts the Open Mic sessions each Sunday thereby offering the musicians the performance enhancing tool of being able to listen to their set.

U22 Productions is the manifestation of a solid belief that the future of good, authentic, original music lies firmly in the hands of our youth.
